THE USE AND POWER OF THE SURANGAMA MANTRA
(Extract from Surangama Sutra, Volume 7)
As the Saiksa who have not escaped from Samsara, have the sincere and persevering citta wishing to conduct and realize the stage of attainment of Arhat. If staying in the Religious Path, not maintaining this Mantra then the body and mind of practitioners can hardly avoid and escape from the disturbance of The Evil Ones.
If a satva depending on any available materials in country he lives in such as: the bark of flower trees, the leaves of tree as the same as palm leaves, white paper, white velvets…writes this Mantra on it and then puts it in a scented bag. If that satva is ignorant, not able to chant and remember this mantra, should put it on the body or keep it in the house, then in the whole life, that satva is safe and not harmed by toxins.
The Surangama Mantra often saves satvas from all fears and supports satvas in successfully conducting and achieving The Supramundane Mind. In the Pascimadharma. If anyone maintains and chants or teaches another one to maintain and chant the Surangama Mantra, that person is out of the dangers: being burnt by fire, being drifted by water, being impacted by harm and poison… also all the Evil Mantra Words of the God, Dragon, Devil, Deity, Poltergeist, Ghost, Illusion Ghost cannot harm him.
When maintaining and chanting this Mantra and the citta is at the right samadhi then all kinds of spells, venoms, toxic drugs, poison in gold, silver, grass and trees, snakes, centipedes, insects and other species…if falling into that person’s mouth, they are transformed to the Amrta. All of the Unlucky Stars, Evil Demons, Evil Deity though having evil citta to harm people also dare not to arise the Mind to harm That Person Maintaining and Chanting The Mantra. The Vinayaka and the lord of Evil Demons as well as their relatives who got deep blessing from the Buddha Dharma often come to support those who maintain and chant that Mantra. Surangama Mantra always has eighty four thousand numberless races of Bodhisatva Vajragarbha King, each and every one has relatives who accompany and protect them day and night. If a satva has scattered mind, cannot enter Samadhi but that one: The citta maintains, the mouth chants the Surangama Mantra then the Vajradharas always follow to support that one much less those who have the citta that is determined to enter the Bodhi Path. These Vajradharas always use supernatural power to support and make that person have vigorous body and mind, arise the Soul, at that time remember things from eighty four thousand numberless kalpa ago until now, each and every thing is clear, without any doubt.
From the starting time to lead a religious life which is the first Kalpa till becoming the Buddha which is the last Kalpa, no matter how many Kalpa one has to go through, is never born as Yaksa, Ratsasa, Sickness Ghost, Decay Ghost, Kumbhanda, Ghost eating essence and energy (Pisaca), and other kinds of Hungry Ghosts that are visible or invisible, with thoughts or without thoughts and the wicked countries. That Kalyana Mitta chants or wears, keeps and makes this Mantra an offering then Kalpa after Kalpa is not born in destitute, lowclass places and unsafe and unsound places. These satvas even if they themselves do not make Puṇya-Karma, the ten directions of Tathàgata also give them merit and virtue, so in numberless kalpas are often born at the same place as Buddhas, unite closely numberless merits and virtues in order to conduct in one place together. Hence, this Citta mantra helps people who Gave Up the Precepts to get the pure clean Precepts and Faculties of Senses, helps people who have not achieved Precepts to achieve them, helps
people who have not had vigor to have it, helps people who have not had Wisdom and Knowledge to get it, helps people who are not pure and clean to be pure and clean soon, helps people who have not observed the Abstinence Rules to keep them. That Good Son. Suppose in the past, he disobeyed the Precepts, after maintaining this Mantra, whatever the serious or light Sin of Breaking the Precepts is destroyed. Even if he drank alcohol, ate the five condiments and other Impure food, all the Buddhas, Bodhisatvas, Vajras, Deva-rsis, Ghosts and Spirits do not think that he committed the sin and do not hold him guilty. Even if he wears tattered, dirty clothes, when maintaining this Mantra in walking or standing, he is still considered to be a pure, clean person. Even if not setting up the Mandala, not entering the Religious Path also not practicing Religious Path but maintaining and chanting this Mantra will help to have enough merit and virtue the same as the person who sets up the Mandala and practices the Religious Path. If people who in the past committed the Pancànantarya and the serious sins that deserve to fall to the Avici Hell, or all Buddhist Monks and Nuns who committed the Four Parajika Sins, the Eight Parajika Sins, although did not have the chance to repent in the previous incarnations. Now know how to chant, write this Mantra, put it on the body or keep it in the residence so the cumulative Karma from the past till now will turn into dust and ashes and get the No-Rebirth Eternity soon. As the woman who has not had a child yet. If wanting to pray for having a child and often holding this Mantra in memory by the persevering citta or wearing this Mantra, will have sons or daughters with Blessed Virtues, Knowledge and Wisdom. Those who pray to have long life will get it, pray for Blessed Reward will get it, pray for having a nice and healthy body will get it. After passing away, in accordance with the Vows will be present in the ten Directions of Land, will surely not be born in the border area, in low-class families and will not have the impure bodies.
If there are the Lands, districts, villages that suffer starvation, epidemic or the places that have war, invaders, looting, fights, and all the places that have other accidents…. write this Mantra and stick in the four gates of the citadel, in the Temple Tower or write it on the flag, pennant and make people in those places obey and follow this Mantra, worship it respectfully, make offerings with the whole mind, at the same time ask everyone to wear this Mantra on the body or keep it in the residence, then all the accidents will be eliminated. If satvas in the Native Lands. Wherever there is this Mantra, the Heaven-Dragon are glad, rain and wind are in good condition, grains are in bumper crops, people are safe and happy. All of the disasters and obstacles caused by all the Evil Demons everywhere cannot arise, people do not suffer premature death, cangue and stocks and chains are not stuck in the body, sleeping well every day and night without nightmares.
This Sahà has 84 thousand accidents caused by the Evil Demons, 28 Evil Demons are Leaders. There are also 8 Great Evil Demons as leaders usually appear in the world under many forms and often cause many strange disasters to satvas, once having this Mantra those things are annihilated. In the area of 12 Yojana (216 milestone), the serious furious disasters cannot trespass. Tathàgata said this Mantra is used to protect the practitioners who have just entered the Religion Path while conducting MeditationSamàdhi, the body and citta are peaceful and safe and are not disturbed and harmed by the Devil, Ghosts, Previous Malediction and Karmavarana, the cumulative debt from the incarnations from without beginning. If the practitioners follow exactly the Dharma, Maintain the Precepts in the Religious Path and are coached by a Pure Teacher that Transfers the Precepts. If about this Mantra there is not any doubt, then in this physical body given by parents will get the bright citta. If not having what is mentioned above then the ten directions of Tathàgata all say unreal words.
